How "Keywords" Work

Premium SMS

A Premium SMS is an SMS that is sent from a mobile phone to a shortcode (eg. 33370). a

5 digit number, which is easy to remember.

How does it work?

You send a SMS to 33370 starting with the "keyword" as the message - Nothing more, nothing less - Just the keyword.

  • Cellphone users can send an sms message to the shortcode 33370 using your keyword.
  • The message sent contains your unique keyword to identify who the message needs to be sent to.
  • The sender is charged a fee for that message band eg. R1.50 for each message.
  • HeyFox will match the keyword to your account and send back the response message.
  • Participants receive a customisable confirmation SMS.
  • The confirmation is included as part of the Premium SMS package.
  • The revenue share payable on this band is used to cover the cost of the SMS to your customer, your sales team including the email.

Keyword:

The shortcode is shared across Messagesquare customers but your keyword/s is unique and is dedicated to your account. No other customer can use your keyword or get access to your unique customers.

What can you use the keyword for?

  • Bookings or Reservations
  • Sales Call Back Service
  • Product Enquiries
  • Voting
  • Collect Information
  • Donations
  • Competitions
  • Lost and Found
  • Payment Initiation

Cellphone users will be charged the above R1.50 sms fee when sending a message to a 33370 shortcode keyword. Free sms's and discounted rates as per the contact or prepaid contact don't apply. If the keyword is not matched the cellphone is still charged by the mobile network. If there is not enough funds/airtime on the cellphone account, the sms will not be received by Messagesquare.

There is not a limited to the number of incoming messages you can receive. Keywords can expire and will be returned into the pool for customers to subscribe to if required.

Incoming messages from cellphone users will appear in your unique customers contact list
